A downloadable game

Conquest and Glory (Expanded) is the expanded version of my submission to the 2021 One-Page RPG jam, "Borders". In it, you and your fellow players take on the roles of conquerors at the helm of an invading force expanding its borders.

In light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, I had prevented downloads of this title for some time. In hindsight, the design of Conquest and Glory (Expanded) presents a glib portrait of conquest, one which fails to critique its practice or challenge players to examine their relationships to it. In short, it did not feel appropriate.

That said, here is a revised and reformatted version of the game. Its mechanics remain unchanged, but some text has been revised to address, if ineffectually, the titular subject matters of conquest and glory. I am uploading this new version for you to play, if you so desire, and/or interrogate. What do the mechanics say about conquest? What do they fail to say? What would you change to give the subject matter sufficient gravity?

There are three files. The first is a conventional layout intended for digital use. The second and third are zine-style booklets to print, fold, and staple at home. One is intended for printers which flip back pages along the short edge, while the other is for those which flip back pages along the long edge.
